Baby Nora

Remember the beautiful Womack family?? Well Meghan and Jeff had their baby! It was actually a little while ago, I've just been so busy with school that I completely forgot to post about it. OK- so this was the first official infant shoot I have done. I took tons of photos of Eleanor when she was an infant, but it's so different when it's your own child.

Little Nora was the sweetest girl! I enjoyed spending some time with her and the family. :)

When I first got there she was wide awake- I was lucky to get this one of her with her eyes wide open!

I love her little foot being in focus... she has huge feet!

So sweet and angelic! Thank you Meghan and Jeff for inviting me into your home and allowing me to capture these moments!

Fall goodness!

I apologize for being a little bit lazy lately... it's been a busy autumn so far! For those of you who don't know I am a pre-nursing student, this quarter I'm taking Anatomy and Physiology (241) and Intercultural communications- both of which take up a lot of time. It's been intense, but I've learned a lot about myself and studying that I didn't know before. But it hasn't left me a lot of time to do fun things like blog posts and advertising, :p

I took photos for my dear friend, Autumn, and her family. She is an amazing local artist and is like me, loves our little town of Issaquah a ton! So, it was only fitting that we did their photos at Train Depot Park!

Look at this sweet family!

They are just the sweetest... I love the fall colors in all the pictures! Thank you Autumn, Maurice, and William for letting me take your photos!

Womack family!

This couple was SUCH a dream to work with! Meghan and Jeff were so easy going and sweet... the kindness, passion and love they have for each other, their pup Si, their future baby girl and life just shines in these photos. They are the reason why I love taking pictures and being a budding photographer! Also, the photos not at the river are shot at my favorite park of all time- Snoqualmie Point Park, it has such a great view of the valley! Enjoy!

Meghan is beaming in this!!

I love the way Jeff is looking at his wife... so beautiful

Recommendation!

As a photographer who's just starting out I've been pilfering websites and books to hone in on my skills and knowledge. I have stumbled upon this blog a few times and love all that Kristin Duke has to offer! I am trying to put together some helpful tips and guidelines for family photo sessions, while looking for advice I found this page: Tips to relax at your family photo session - I highly recommend reading this if you are preparing your family for a photography session.

The things I want to highlight in this post are:

  • Let go of your expectations! Some of the best photos I've taken have been spur of the moment and candid... the photo you get may be better than the one you expect
  • Make your family photo session fun! Play, be silly, and have a good time... give your children the opportunity to be creative
My husband- Michael- took this photo of our daughter... It is a great example of what I'm trying to get across here. They were just in Eleanor's bedroom playing with blocks and she climbed up on the chair and my husband snapped this. You never know when you will get the best photo of the session!

One thing that wasn't in this post but I think is always good for families to know is that the photographers know (hopefully) what they are doing... let them take charge of how to pose your children and get great shots, it takes time- but they will eventually warm up to them and get some amazing photos that could have otherwise been missed.

Hope these tips help you out! I know they have for me, as we are preparing for our own holiday photos soon. :)

Camping

My favorite part about summer is getting to be outside basically all the time... my least favorite is when you feel like you can't get cool at all! That's what the beginning of our trip was like to Oregon. We started off at 96 degrees outside of Eugene at Cascara State Park... it was SO dry there that the lake we were supposed to be staying on wasn't quite there. It was about 1/2 mile or so away! But as we made our way to the coast it became much more bearable at a yummy 65 degrees in Coos Bay. These are just a couple photos from that trip- and some of the unfortunate surprises that come with road tripping.

Me and Eleanor at Cascara State Park... either we just gave her a bath or she's sweating profusely.
All this grass is where the lake usually is... it's amazing what this dry weather does to the landscape. The camp ground is to the left of this, in the trees.
On the way out we had to stop and play some disc golf at Jasper State Park

2nd flat tire of the trip! Thank you Michael for changing both of them and to Les Schwab for changing the tires so quickly!
Eleanor at Sunset Bay State Park- it was seriously the most beautiful beach... I want to go here and stay a while longer. Eleanor loved the beach, she's such a water baby already!

Someone didn't want to leave the beach.
Michael took this photo... she loves him so damn much! It's beautiful.

Oregon was such a great state to visit and I wish we had seen more or stayed longer in 1 place. We will be back!

Cell phone photos

Wanted to share a few of my favorite photos taken on cell phones... a couple of them are from Samsung's, a couple maybe from my Nokia I lost in May. Enjoy!

Eleanor at the park!

Sunset from Bellevue College- I love taking night classes :)

Michael and our niece Harper- one of my favorites! This was just taken on Seafair Sunday!

Amanda and Todd

Last Friday I had the pleasure of working with a very sweet couple who are expecting their first child in just a few weeks! Amanda and Todd were gracious enough to let me use their Cannon while our Nikon is on the fritz- in fact, I just sent ours to get repaired today. :) I have a few raw photographs that Amanda posted to her Facebook- here are a select few that I really like! Thank you two for allowing me to take these pictures, it was a pleasure.

I actually edited this one a little bit- but it's from a saved photo, so it's not as crisp as it would be otherwise.

This is probably my favorite! So natural!

How beautiful is she, right?!

I love shooting pictures in Issaquah! There are so many picturesque spots to be... ah, home!

First post!

I wanted to come on and share some of the pictures my husband Mike and I have taken over the past year since we got our Nikon D3200 for Christmas almost 2 years ago. You will see a lot of the photos are from Camano Island, Issaquah, and of our daughter just while we are out and about.
