As a photographer who's just starting out I've been pilfering websites and books to hone in on my skills and knowledge. I have stumbled upon this blog a few times and love all that Kristin Duke has to offer! I am trying to put together some helpful tips and guidelines for family photo sessions, while looking for advice I found this page:
Tips to relax at your family photo session - I highly recommend reading this if you are preparing your family for a photography session.
The things I want to highlight in this post are:
- Let go of your expectations! Some of the best photos I've taken have been spur of the moment and candid... the photo you get may be better than the one you expect
- Make your family photo session fun! Play, be silly, and have a good time... give your children the opportunity to be creative

One thing that wasn't in this post but I think is always good for families to know is that the photographers know (hopefully) what they are doing... let them take charge of how to pose your children and get great shots, it takes time- but they will eventually warm up to them and get some amazing photos that could have otherwise been missed.
